Real Bread Week & A Discount

Sourdough bread changed our lives.

I realise that could come off as one of those hyperboles thrown out when having impassioned discussions about food and life, but when in reality mean very little in the scheme of things.

In our case though, it is true. Sourdough was the gateway into the real food movement for us. As I made those first wonky loaves of bread, I began to connect to other people who were passionate about food and farming and their interrelation to community. We cheered each other on, learned together and were fuelled by a desire to share that passion. It was the perfect blend of my interests in farming, food and science…not to mention my singular love of toast with butter for breakfast.

I fell into teaching sourdough baking without any real planning on my part. We were struggling and needed to add workshops to our business. My friends urged me to schedule a sourdough workshop so they could come and learn. From there, it grew - more workshops, kits and online courses. We have taught hundreds of people sourdough bread. Selling flour got us through the first lockdown when our events ground to a halt. Little bits of Mildred, our sourdough starter, have gone out into the world to make other families’ bread.

Sourdough has become a thread that runs through everything we do. It is the staple in our kitchen, of our events and in our teaching. I can’t tell you the joy it brings to see people’s loaves of bread.

To celebrate #realbreadweek we are offering 50% off our online sourdough classes (no code needed)
