THINGS THAT WERE, ARE AND WILL BE...

In other words, “News from the Farm”!

This week, we hosted women from the Central and West Integration Network for an afternoon of learning about agroecological farming. We ate together, milked goats, chased pigs, scratched the still pregnant Honey, and spent the hours comparing notes on goat breeds, Highland clearances and Gartur's history with slavery, chatting about our favourite type of milk (buffalo) and explaining how we are basically poo farmers.

I think it is what I love most about food. It has this incredible power to bring people together. Sometimes it blows my mind how many people we have taught to milk goats or about the power of poo. Is it the solution to the world's big problems? No. But it is what we can offer on our few acres of marginal land and that, for this week, was pretty darn good. 

In other news this week, Honey is still pregnant. I know we should be savouring the time before we are back to twice a day milking, but I want to meet the baby and have a fresh supply of cream in the fridge! 

So other than being on cow-watch, I have a weekend of planning our festive market, writing, friends and photography ahead of me with the 2nd issue of Life in the Making Quarterly heading to print shortly. I am at the "I hate everything" stage of it, so that must mean it is almost done.
