It's here!
There is always a bit of explaining to do when new delivery drivers start on our route. As they pull into the courtyard with geese swanning, pigs waddling and goats making a run for Lady Nicola's rose bush, they assume they are here to deliver an amazon parcel or something animal related.
When "new driver Jim" pulled in this week with 30 boxes of the quarterly for us, he couldn't help but exclaim his surprise. Apparently he'd checked in on us with the neighbours, but wanted the full run down of "what on earth you do here!"
"What do we do here?" has actually been a bit of theme of the last 18 months. As we have moved through restrictions, homeschooling, reopening, flour shortages and everything else that has been thrown at us, we have had to adapt and change and be light on our feet as we walk through it all.
In many ways though, all of those swirls and pivots have revolved around the same thing, our deep love of making. Whether it be bread, dinner, a mess...creating is at the heart of our every single day here at Gartur...a Life in the Making.
I can feel disparate at times - farm tours seem quite unconnected to a zoom makealong or a magazine, but what they have in common is that deep love for living that puts creating at the heart.
So, with "new driver Jim's" delivery, we get to send a bit of that deep love of making out into the world, further than we usually can as goats are notoriously hard to fit into packaging.
Thank you so much to everyone who ordered. We do have a limited run of extra issues available, as well as a special offer to top up your subscription if you ordered the first issue and want to subscribe for the year.
