Farm to Table Dinner 28th August 2021

If I had to pick a favourite event that we run, it would be our farm to table dinners. At their heart, these celebrations bring together all the bits about Gartur that I love the most - the food and the community. On paper, I always think they shouldn’t work. Last minute meal plans based on what is best in the garden that day, a group of people who largely don’t know each other and the chaos that is Gartur…but somehow it just works.

Last week, we welcomed our last farm to table dinner of the year. The timing worked out perfectly as it was also the week our new quarterly publication Life in the Making made its way out into the world, so it acted like a bit of a magazine launch party as well.

Our dinners are always quite social affairs and with the loan of the event barn across the courtyard, we were able to sit 6 households comfortably distanced, but still close enough to be social. Seasonal food and good chat, with surprisingly few goat escapes on the day and sunny weather, made for a gorgeous evening. The only hitch? A hen do (bachelorette party) complete with naked butler in the holiday cottage was scheduled at the same time! Fortunately we managed to keep the groups separate! Ha!

We were so lucky to have the wonderfully talented Kit Teague-Long and their camera there to capture the evening. Here’s to next season!
