The first of our guest tutors this year will be the amazing seamstress and owner of All That Is Braw, Eilidh Weir.
You will learn to mend both knit and woven clothes using a variety of hand sewing, patching and darning techniques. Taking inspiration from the Japanese art form of Sashiko, using simple stitches to mend, reinforce and strengthen fabric in a beautiful, decorative way. Making the repair become a feature and treasured part of the garment's history. Taking the time to care for and extend the life of clothing helps to fight against the flow of fast fashion and show respect for garment industry workers.
Please bring some projects that need mending. Other materials will be provided.
Come spend the day with us learning new skills and while you are here, enjoy our local, home cooked food, farmstead cheeses, meet the animals and spend the day at our edge of the world.
