Intro to Cheesemaking: Create Artisan Cheeses at Home

  • gartur stitch farm (map)

Come learn the basics of cheese and kefir making at our small farm at the edge of the Trossachs.

ABOUT THE DAY:

In this course we will cover the basics of culturing milk and creating a range of dairy products in your own home.

We will cover:

  • Sourcing milk

  • Raw vs pasteurised milk

  • Using cultures and rennets

  • Fresh cheese making

  • Basic ageing techniques

You will learn how to make fresh ricotta, halloumi, and a goat's chevre.

This is an excellent course for smallholders looking to make more use out of their raw milk from their house goats or cows. However, you absolutely don’t need to have a dairy animal for this course. We will talk through how you can make cheese out of store bought milk.

You will get to take home a selection of fresh and aged cheese
